11 months? REALLY?
We’re quickly closing in on a year, y’all. Every single day I can see changes in Em. She is smart and beautiful and so funny and fun. She’s starting to look like a tiny girl and not a baby anymore.
She has two teeth: bottom center and so cute. She can walk clear across the living room, but does best when she has something in her hands – helps her balance better, maybe? But she still knows she can crawl faster, so she chooses to do that a lot instead, haha.
My girl LOVES books. We read every night before bed, and she often likes to “read” to me. (It usually sounds a lot like “daaaa-da daaaa-dee” over & over… Kid loves her dad ;)) Shes very good at turning pages and is even very careful with Mama’s books.
Emery’s favorite words to say: Mama, Da-dee, HAI, hey, buh-bye, ba (ball), umm (yum), buhhh (book), uhhyuhh (o yeah).
Emery’s favorite things to do: give big slobber kisses, snuggle Mama, Daddy, & Lion, standupsitdownstandupsitdown, sort things into buckets & bins, read books ❤
Oh & be busy and moving all. the. time.
“Where’s Daddy, Emery?”:
“little ones don’t stay little for long.”
Em’s favorite things this month: dancing, cruising along the furniture, hiding and playing peek-a-boo, and singing in the car.
Solid food is still a hit-or-miss thing. I never know whether she’s going to enjoy it or refuse it, but we’re steadily working on it.
She’s amazing, y’all.
“And though she be but little, she is fierce.”
I’ll be back (very) soon with a (late) Christmas post, but I wanted to quickly make a list of my goals for this year. I’m pretty excited about some of them 🙂
– take my lunch to work everyday
– try three new recipes per month
– yoga 3x/week starting this week
– launch etsy shop by March 1
– acquire booth at local craft/trade post by March
– send lots of snail mail
– less of these things: tv, phone, & computer (other than blogging & etsy)
– more of these things: sewing, reading, & family time
– less work & more play
2013 is going to bring a lot of changes to our little family & we are so excited about them. I’m on a 7 week countdown to exciting change #1 🙂
In one week, Emery will have been in the world for as long as she was in my belly. Wow. A few stats: She now enjoys eating winter squash, apples, and bananas in addition to her sweet potatoes. She has just started saying “DA-da, DA-da” & it is precious. Her balance is getting better and better and she really enjoys walking along the couch. She’s becoming so expressive and makes some of THE funniest faces. Oh, and she’s been singing herself to sleep. ❤
Em’s favorite things this month: talking to mama & daddy, reading her books, and pulling off her socks.
I love you much
most beautiful darling
more than anyone
and I like you
better than everything
in the sky
I just have so many things to be thankful for.
Time passes too quickly. I feel like it was just a few short weeks ago that I found out I was pregnant. I want to be with Em every second of every day and soak up every sweet little thing that she does.
Emery turned 8 months old on Thanksgiving. She is #1 on my list of things I’m thankful for this year 😀 She continues to amaze me with what she learns every day. This month we introduced sweet potatoes and she LOVES them. I make them twice a week and she eats them every night at dinner. She’s so cute (and funny) when she eats. She’s also starting to gain some balance. She’ll pull up on a piece of furniture and then let go to play with something… and stay standing for a few seconds. I feel like her first step could come at any time now. (happy/sad/emotional mama over here) Oh, and sometimes she hums while she’s falling asleep ❤
Em’s favorite things this month: clapping, exploring all over our house, and waving bye-bye.
Every little thing she does is magic.
Choosing Emery’s first Halloween costume was SO. HARD. For real. I really wanted to: a) make our costumes, b) not spend a lot, and c) do themed family costumes.
After lots of perusing Pinterest, I found SO MANY great ideas. (like this. and this.) But after a few possibilities were thrown around, we finally decided on Star Wars. (duh, right?) And I’m happy to report that I was able to stick with 2 of my 3 goals. 😉
Dylan wanted to go as a jedi & I decided on Princess Leia. (there aren’t really a ton of well-known women from Star Wars, so my choices were limited) And after considering almost every small character for Em to be, I chose R2D2.
I put several hours into the costumes, and we all loved how they turned out. I wish is gotten more detailed photos, and I may have us take some at some point.
Here are photos I used for inspiration:
Annnnd, here’s what we ended up with:
May the Force be with you…
